Bringing Back The House Call

I’ve blogged quite a bit about the aging-in-place movement. A recent study is out on Medicare’s home visit program, and the results seem to be good for everyone. The participants are having fewer hospital and nursing home admissions, families are feeling safer, and even the doctors are happier about it (after all, would you really want to spend 10 hours stuck in your clinic or hospital? Of course, getting out and visiting patients is a nice respite). So, if your doctor doesn’t make house calls, maybe it’s time to encourage him to start.
