Humans and sea urchins share a surprisingly close genetic relationship. Which is why MDI Biological Laboratory Associate Professor James A. Coffman, Ph.D., is studying the sea urchin’s ability to regenerate. The hope is, that with continued study, the urchin will allow us a deeper understanding of the aging process in humans.
