Although this OpEd was written in Canada, I’m sure there are plenty of places in the U.S. where feeding the birds is just as illegal, and I’m equally sure that we’ve all encountered this sort of intolerance when it comes to the behavior of the elderly. The author makes a very good point: the elderly have earned a little patience and compassion from the rest of us. The next time you start to get really exasperated by some behavior (actually, this doesn’t just apply to behavior by the elderly), stop and ask yourself if it’s really that big of a deal.
